Facebook Billionaire: Mark Zuckerberg, 1984—

Mark Zuckerberg (born 1984) was born into a Jewish family in New York; his father is a dentist. He attended Harvard University but dropped out after one year. In 2004, he founded Facebook, a social networking site that quickly gained popularity. By 2018, in just 14 years, Facebook had 2.3 billion users worldwide. His net worth was $51.6 billion in 2016 and rose to $77 billion in 2018, making him, at 34, the youngest billionaire in history.

Zuckerberg married a second-generation Vietnamese-American classmate, who is of Chinese descent, and they have a daughter. He has learned some Chinese and can speak it semi-fluently. He has visited China and met Wang Qishan, but Facebook remains blocked in the country; users must use VPNs to access it.

He has publicly pledged to donate 99% of his wealth, leaving only 1% for his daughter, and is actively involved in philanthropy, particularly in education. Zuckerberg has also expressed future interest in running for president and has engaged with communities in California and elsewhere to understand everyday Americans.
